A week ago our house was broken into when we were away for the weekend. Fortunately the thieves were disturbed when we arrived home very late at night so left without taking any of the many things they had lined up at the doorways ready to go.
We have not yet managed to get everything back in order, in particular our computer network. Hence my sudden disappearance from the blogosphere. Hopefully things will return to normal soon and I will be back posting and visiting your blogs again.

I've got photos from our trip to Canberra to post when I get back into the swing of things.

Winter - Boating

If you are going to be on the water in this weather you have to be active. I chatted briefly to the kayaker as he began unloading his boat.  He had gone by the time I wandered back this way.

That is the end of this series.  I think the comparisons have been fun.

Summer - Boating

A warm summer's day is perfect for bobbing about on the water throwing in a line but who would do it on a frosty winter morning?

Winter - Skybird

A willy wagtail taking a morning wash in the icy water.  There were gulls playing in the sky above.

Summer - Skybird

I'm not going find eagles soaring on the thermals on a frosty winter morn.

Winter - Ethereal weeds

And the winter weeds also looked quite special in the golden dawn light.

These dandelions had huge seed heads, a glorious collection of filmy tall glasses.

Winter - Waterbirds

Summer - Waterbirds

In summer ducks daddled by the water's edge and pelicans cruised on the lake.  What sort of waterbirds do you think I saw in the winter?

Winter - Drowned Trees

On a  winter morning before sun up it's all mood.

Summer - Drowned Trees

A characteristic of this lake are the trees drowned when the lake filled after building the dam.

Winter - Colour

In the winter the summer grass dries off.

I reckon it would have been very chilly camping in a tent down by the water.  There was a light frost.

Summer - Colour

In summer the land was a rich green from recent rain.  And the lake filling up again after being so dry during the drought (follow this link to see how things have changed). It is currently around 40% full according to the sign at the campsite.

Summer-Winter Interlude

Last weekend we stopped over at the campsite at Lake Windemere which is about midway between Rylstone and Mudgee.  I was excited because we would be there at sunset and I have seen the lake in evening light on several occasions when too busy to stop and take shots.  Well I was in for disappointment ... the day was cloudy and there was barely any colour in the sky but I did better the next morning.

Being a little worried that you have seen rather a lot of cold morning shots from me lately I came up with a bright idea.  I have images I took in Summer as well as last week's winter shots.  So I am going to run a series of alternate summer and winter scenes.

Morning golf 7 of 7

I think I've figured out why people enjoy an early morning game of golf.  Time to get back to my room, breakfast will be waiting.

Morning golf 4 of 7

The water hazard isn't very watery. But I notice the grass is a tiny bit greener Julie.

Morning golf 1 of 7

We have not been wayfaring much of late because we have been spending weekends trying to get our block at Clandulla under control.  A weekend or two ago we stayed overnight at the motel near Kandos golf course which seemed like an ideal place to take a morning walk.  So if you wish, tag along with me over the next week.

Time to go inside

It's time to go inside, it really is very chilly out here.  I hope you found this frosty walk as delightful as I did.

There was a soft pitter pat of leaves falling gently to the ground.  I tried catching some in transit but gave up and took a photo of the ones on the ground instead.

June roses

Back at the camp I was taken by the frosted roses.
